Gender Equality Report and Action Plan for the acatech Office
acatech believes that it is necessary to have as broad and balanced a range of perspectives as possible in order to provide policymakers and society with advice that is in the public interest. Accordingly, the Academy has established the goal of equal treatment of women and men and drawn up a set of corresponding principles. These apply to both the employees of the acatech Office and to the scientific Members, Senate and other bodies that make up the Academy. The Gender Equality Report and Action Plan for the acatech Office and the Gender Equality Report and Action Plan for the Academy evaluate progress towards achieving the goals and update the 2020 Gender Equality Action Plan for the acatech Office with measures to further increase the proportion of women at acatech.
The action plan now reflects the German Research Foundation’s gender equality and diversity standards, published in 2022 with the aim of promoting both gender equality and diversity in research. As far as acatech is concerned, this means that the topics chosen for the Academy’s projects and the way they are implemented will take both the gender dimension and diversity issues into account.
There are also a number of concrete objectives for acatech’s Office. These include a further increase in the proportion of women in leadership roles and the promotion and strengthening of work-life balance through flexible working models. Furthermore, staff awareness raising measures such as a code of conduct and gender equality seminars will be implemented in order to prevent discrimination on the basis of gender or other attributes. Diversity issues will be progressively incorporated into these activities.
