Pathways into the energy future. The transformation of energy systems in an international perspective
Background
Systematic insights into international research initiatives and innovations in the energy sector are key to delivering the Paris climate goals and developing an affordable, reliable and sustainable global energy supply. These insights can help us draw conclusions and identify possible development pathways for Germany’s own energy supply system.
This joint project of acatech and the Federation of German Industries (BDI) investigates the pathways for transforming energy systems of selected G20 nations. Opportunities and policy options for Germany are identified through a comparison of various research initiatives and best practice examples from around the world. The core of the project involves a series of fact-finding missions by delegations comprising federal ministry officials, the presidents of leading science institutions and representatives of businesses, NGOs and the media in Germany.
