European Sounding Board on Innovation
Europe has to ensure its global competitiveness and strategic resilience to safeguard and guarantee the welfare of its citizens. Its general ability to innovate is crucial to this matter, as well as its ability to successfully bring and keep innovations in the market.
The European Commission continues to position Europe as an innovation leader in the following years. To support this goal, acatech has established the European Sounding Board on Innovation (ESBI) as an advisory vehicle. Its objective is to facilitate an evidence-based, open, and confident exchange among stakeholders from European industry, academia, and the political sector. It will develop concrete recommendations and options for innovation activities, accompanying their implementation if needed.
The new European Sounding Board on Innovation will support our endeavours to ensure Europe becomes the place where the best talents work hand in hand with the best companies and where deep tech innovation thrives and creates breakthrough innovative solutions across the continent.

The ESBI consists of two parts: a high-level group of representatives from European industry and academia that meets several times a year in roundtables and working groups, that develop suggestions for actions in different areas.
About the European Sounding Board on Innovation
The ESBI was launched by Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Research, Innovation, Education, Culture and Youth, along with Jan Woerner and Reinhard Ploss, the Presidents of acatech, in Munich in November 2022.
Through its well-balanced, diverse, and transparent platform, acatech aims to enable stakeholders to work together to enhance Europe’s innovation capabilities and keep Europe at the forefront of technological and economic progress.
