Research Council Industrie 4.0 welcomes Oliver Günther as a member

The Research Council Industrie 4.0 welcomes Oliver Günther as a new member. The current 32 representatives from science and industry identify research-based solutions for the further development and implementation of Industrie 4.0. The topics of sustainability, resilience, interoperability, technological sovereignty and the central role of people are becoming increasingly important. The Research Council Industrie 4.0, which is coordinated by acatech, advises the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Plattform Industrie 4.0 in particular.
Oliver Günther is now contributing his extensive expertise to the Research Council Industrie 4.0. The business IT specialist conducts research in the areas of IT strategy, IT efficiency, data protection and security. He has also worked on these topics as a company founder and strategy consultant. He has been President of the University of Potsdam since 2012. Oliver Günther is a member of the German Informatics Society, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Weizenbaum Institute and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam e. V. (ZZF).

Wolfgang Nebel (OFFIS e. V., University of Oldenburg) has left the Research Council Industrie 4.0.

About the Research Council Industrie 4.0
As a strategic and independent committee, the Research Council Industrie 4.0 is instrumental in pinpointing research-based approaches to further and realise Industrie 4.0, the overriding goal being to strengthen the German innovation system and enhance value creation. The Research Council currently comprises 32 representatives of science and industry who apply their interdisciplinary expertise to come up with new research proposals and research needs that can be addressed at the pre-competitive stage, pinpoint medium-to-long-term development prospects and derive courses of action for the successful realisation of Industrie 4.0. The work of the Research Council is coordinated by acatech – National Academy of Science and Engineering – overseen by Projektträger Karlsruhe (PTKA) as project administrator and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
