Dialogue and cooperation – shaping the future together
Berlin, 14 November 2023
acatech President Jan Wörner and British Ambassador Jill Gallard clearly signalled their cooperation at a meeting on 14 November 2023 at the British Embassy in Berlin. In doing so, they aim to focus on dialogue centred round topics of joint interest as well as on topic-specific projects.
The British Ambassador Jill Gallard and acatech President Jan Wörner took this occasion, on 14 November 2023 in the British Embassy in Berlin, to form a basis of personal trust that shall serve as a foundation for future cooperation. The two-pillar principle from acatech, as well as the diverse range of topics being handled by members and senators of acatech, were met with great interest by the Ambassador. Particularly the drafting of options for taking action and of recommendations as a basis for political decisions is seen by the Ambassador as an important point.
The Ambassador and Jan Wörner focused on the topic of utilising hydrogen as an alternative fuel, petrol and base material, as well as a storage medium for renewable energies. They discussed the advantages in terms of the reliable, efficient and climate-neutral generation of electricity and heat, but also the challenges associated with this.
Jan Wörner and Jill Gallard agreed to build up a science-based cooperation. In addition to dialogue formats, the two could also imagine cooperation on a project basis. This is also imaginable within the scope of the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, in which British scientists can participate once again at the start of 2024.
