From culture to artificial intelligence – AI talk, mobility data and a touch of romance: acatech’s participation in the Digital Summit
Munich, 16 November 2023
Germany wants to be better equipped for the future, more resilient and more sustainable. To achieve this, we must digitalise the economy and society. At the German Federal Government’s Digital Summit on 20 and 21 November in Jena, around 1,000 participants discussed topics and approaches to solutions centred on “Digital transformation at a turning point”. acatech –National Academy of Science and Engineering is contributing with the Culture Data Space, the Mobility Data Space and the Plattform Lernende Systeme.
From culture to artificial intelligence – the three acatech offers give insights into important aspects of digitalisation through speed geekings and an AI talk.
Culture in the digital world: use cases from the Culture Data Space
COVID showed us: the culture and creative economy needs better access to digital business models. The Culture Data Space, one of 18 lighthouse projects of the German Federal Government’s Digital Strategy, wants to ease the digital networking of cultural institutions and the creative economy. To achieve this, it offers a decentralised infrastructure via which the participants can provide and share culture-based data in a safe, self-assured and autonomous manner.
At the Digital Summit, the Culture Data Space introduces use cases at five stations, such as the web portal www.cdfriedrich.de which allows the works of the painter Caspar David Friedrich to be experienced, and explains their technological requirements. Afterwards, questions and comments will be discussed in the plenum.
Mobile with data: insights into the digital lab of the Mobility Data Space
The Mobility Data Space (MDS) is the data sharing community for all of those who want to shape the mobility of tomorrow. It aims to boost the competition surrounding innovative, environmentally friendly and user-friendly mobility concepts by providing all the participants with access to data in a fair and transparent way.
At the Digital Summit, MDS presents use cases from the areas of intermodal travel and road safety, as well as of innovation and economic development. Participants can collect suggestions for new mobility solutions, share their experiences and, together with experts, discuss the potential of data for future mobility.
Learning robots and AI talks: the offerings from Plattform Lernende Systeme
The Plattform Lernende Systeme was initiated in 2017 by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and aims to contribute to shaping learning systems and artificial intelligence in the interest of people and society. At the Digital Summit, the platform gives insights into adaptive robotics and shows how generative artificial intelligence (AI) is changing our society.
Following brief impulses of input, experts of Plattform Lernende Systeme discuss with the guests of the Digital Summit at several stations about the progress being made in the research into AI-based robotics and how people and machines can work together in a trusting way. The dialogue on the opportunities and risks of AI shall also take place within the scope of the AI talk at the Market of Digital Opportunities. Participation in the talk is possible without registration, in lecture theatre 5 in building J at the Friedrich Schiller University.
