acatech launches new Smart Service Welt report and English-language MOOC at CEBIT
Hannover, 12 June 2018
The Smart Service Welt offers a wealth of opportunities to develop digital business models, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises. At the CEBIT Digital Transformation Summit in Hannover, acatech once again highlighted these opportunities and announced two new resources for anyone with an interest in this topic. The Smart Service Welt 2018 report is available for free download from today, while an English-language version of the Smart Service Welt MOOC will be available from 19 June.
The Smart Service Welt 2018 report reviews what we have learned so far from the various activities of the Smart Service Welt project, presents the latest knowledge and describes the outlook for the future. It also identifies the relevant challenges and formulates a series of recommendations. Where are we now and where are we going? The report discusses these fundamental conceptual questions in the context of the three key themes of business model innovations, technological enablers, and management & organisation.
Following the launch of the German version of the Smart Service Welt MOOC at the Hannover Messe in April, an English-language version will now also be available after the CEBIT exhibition. It can be accessed from 19 June 2018 via SAP SE’s openSAP MOOC platform (https://open.sap.com/courses/ssw1-tl). This free, four-week online course developed by acatech and Accenture explains how smart services work and what they can do. Prominent experts present different perspectives on smart services, with each of the four weeks focusing on a different theme. The course provides basic information relevant to participants from all industries on the themes of business model innovations, technological enablers, management & organisation and best practices.
Both the new Smart Service Welt report and the English-language MOOC were presented by Chairman of the acatech Board of Trustees and former acatech President Henning Kagermann to a diverse audience at the CEBIT Digital Transformation Summit. This was followed by a discussion with Frank Riemensperger, Senior Managing Director for Germany, Switzerland and Austria at Accenture, and Wolfgang Wahlster, Director and CEO of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). The topics addressed included the success drivers and characteristics of innovative, data-driven business models in the Smart Service Welt, artificial intelligence and the significance of other key technologies, and the smart services currently available in different countries and industries. The event concluded with a look ahead to the future of the Smart Service Welt.
