Technology and Society Working Group
The Technology and Society Working Group deals with the societal aspects of technology; with images and visions, design and take-up, perception and assessment of technology in the various areas of society. It is committed to knowledge-based discourse and decisions about technology as well as the consideration of various perspectives. It examines and develops new forms of technology communication which improve the critically important dialogue between science, politics, economy and the public.
The Working Group engages in technology assessment to anticipate the positive and negative effects of new technologies with regard to the fundamental values of liberal democracy, the common good and sustainable development. The Working Group draws on the expertise of its members from the social sciences, behavioural sciences and the humanities, and promotes interdisciplinary exchange with the technical sciences.
