Background and aims
Companies all over the world now recognise the huge potential of Industrie 4.0. In addition to greater efficiency in production, its key benefits include the creation of integrated systems, connected products and enhanced service portfolios. For many companies, however, carrying out an internal assessment of their Industrie 4.0 maturity stage poses a major challenge.
acatech’s “Industrie 4.0 Maturity Index” project addresses this problem. The multidimensional maturity model developed by the project team provides an assessment methodology that can be applied to businesses all over the world. The aim is to establish the company’s current Industrie 4.0 status and use the results to develop individual roadmaps for the successful roll-out of Industrie 4.0 solutions. In line with the findings of recent studies, the Maturity Index covers R&D as well as production, logistics, sales and marketing. This enables a comprehensive assessment of a company’s Industrie 4.0 maturity stage so that targeted solutions can subsequently be implemented.
