On 5 November, following the state elections in Bavaria, a coalition deal was signed between the Christian Social Union (CSU) and the Free Voters (FW) that strengthens the development of renewable energy and promises to enshrine climate protection at constitutional level in Bavaria. How can the coalition partners make this happen?
On 6 November, a high-level delegation from the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy (StMWi) visited acatech’s Munich headquarters to discuss ways of implementing an ambitious energy transition with representatives of the joint academy project “Energy Systems of the Future” (ESYS). The topics addressed included the requirements and limitations associated with upgrading the power grid, ways of providing flexibility in an integrated energy system, and potential carbon pricing models.
The workshop was led by Prof. Dr. Dirk Uwe Sauer, member of acatech’s Executive Board and chair of the ESYS Board of Directors, and Dr. Ulrike Wolf, deputy head of the StMWi and head of the Department of Energy Policy and Energy Infrastructure.
