International scientific cooperation: UK Science and Technology Network visits acatech
Munich, 10 September 2025
On 10 September, acatech welcomed senior representatives of the UK Science and Technology Network (STN) from the British embassies in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The meeting focused on shared challenges and perspectives for closer cooperation between the DACH region and the United Kingdom.
Following introductions and a review of existing collaborations, an intensive dialogue developed on issues that are of equal concern to both regions: from technological innovation and the handling of dual-use technologies to global challenges such as climate change. Both sides exchanged best practices and innovative approaches, identifying numerous opportunities for joint activities.
Strengthening cooperation after Brexit
In light of current political developments and the rapprochement following Brexit – as reflected, for example, in the Kensington Agreement – the discussions highlighted the considerable potential for scientific and technological cooperation between Germany and the United Kingdom.
Both sides agreed to remain in close contact. acatech looks forward to drawing on the expertise of the STN Network in future projects.
The constructive exchange once again demonstrated that international partnerships are of great value in addressing global challenges and advancing technological innovation. acatech looks forward to continuing this promising dialogue.
